Today, there was an idea session and a workshop for teachers regarding TUTLab. TUTLab is an instance of Fab Lab, which is a small fabrication laboratory, aimed for students and teachers alike. It is also an innovation platform, as the foundation strives to share good ideas across all Fab Labs. The concept is that every student has the right to fabricate whatever s/he might like at the premises of TUTLab. Small things are for free, and some materials can be bought for a compensation. Also, researchers are encouraged to use the TUTLab, if they have something they would like to make themselves. The lab should be ready for students in August 2016.

Our lab will be quite well equipped, with machinery ranging from CNC milling machines to 3D printers and scanners, along with facilities to do work with The lab will be located in the Sähkötalo building. We already have some of the facilities at the University, in ArcLab. The ArcLab consists of two 3D-printers, a laser cutter and a laser scanner.
