tanjawalsh_lectioOn Friday, 15 April 2016 in Tampere University of Technology Tanja Walsh successfully defended her doctoral thesis “Online Surveys in Collecting Cross-Cultural Qualitative User Experience Feedback”. Prof. Gilbert Cockton (Northumbria University, UK) acted as the opponent. The Custos was Prof. Kaisa Väänänen from the Department of Pervasive Computing.

In her dissertation, Tanja studied how user experience feedback can be collected from international markets using online surveys. Companies developing products for international customer base should pay attention to the special characteristics of their market areas and design products suitable for these areas. Technology products should be easy to use and provide positive experiences for their users. In order to succeed in international markets, the needs of local users should be taken in consideration. Online surveys were identified as well working method for collecting user feedback in international markets.
